Nurseries and Wiggle Room

The church nurseries provides child care on Sunday mornings during worship and Adult Education classes. Two employees staff the nurseries every week, assisted by volunteers.

The BABY NURSERY is the first door on the right in the office wing (formerly the Library). This room is staffed and furnished for infants up through early walkers.

The TODDLER NURSERY is farther down the same hall, past the restrooms. This room is equipped for toddlers who are steady on their feet, age two years and under. A diaper changing station is inside each nursery.

During worship, parents may sit with children in the narthex, just outside the main sanctuary, and still see and hear the service without fear of disturbing others inside the sanctuary.

Child care is provided during some music rehearsals and meetings. Contact the person in charge of your meeting or group, or the church office to ask.

Nursery Volunteers

Parents of nursery-age children, other adults and teens are needed during each service to assist the permanent nursery staff in the Baby Nursery and Toddler Nursery. Volunteers are scheduled for the hour of your choice, working 3-4 times per year. Volunteers are also needed each year for evening services during Lent, and for Christmas Eve.

The church nurseries provide parents with a safe, fun place for very young children on Sunday mornings. Adults and teens are asked to volunteer as caregivers for an hour every few months.

“Callers” are needed to phone reminders to nursery volunteers of their Sunday duty. Callers are asked to work the phones for one month a year, about 30 minutes a week during “your” month.

Contact Karen Stein to volunteer for either of these important Children’s Ministry jobs.

ZAP: Zion Action Pack Child and Family Ministry

The ZAP committee plans family activities several times a year. Event details will be published in the Sunday bulletin, newsletter, and Sunday School flyers. Contact Karen Stein at the church office.

April 5 – Easter Egg Hunt

Following the 11:00 am worship service, bring your picnic lunch to eat outside on the lawn (in the FLC if inclement weather)

After lunch, there is a short program in the Family Life Center, while the Easter Bunny and her helpers hide the eggs outside in age-appropriate degrees of difficulty. Children will then be led to their age-areas to hunt for eggs.

 Bring your own:
 • Easter basket
 • Lunch & drinks
 • Something to sit on for lunch
 • Camera

Please e-mail Karen Stein or sign up on the poster in the narthex by April 3, so we can make sure we have enough eggs for everyone.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL High Seas Adventure!
June 21-25, Monday–Friday

It’s time to think about Vacation Bible School! We need many good men and women to serve on this voyage as crew leaders, storytellers, craft, game and music leaders and galley help in the kitchen.  VBS is a wonderful way to reach out to our neighbors in the community, and share God’s love with them.
New this year is a morning session AND an evening session. The morning is planned for 9:30am to noon, with a limit of 100 children. This is primarily for preschoolers, but there will be groups for older children, too. The morning VBS includes a snack time. The evening session is from 6:00pm to 8:30pm, with dinner available at 5:00pm.
Volunteers can sign up on the display in the narthex or contact Karen Stein in the church office. On-line registration begins May 10 (www.zionhelotes.org). You may register in person in the narthex beginning May 16.

IMPORTANT: Registration ends June 13. Late registrations will not be accepted after June 13. This is to ensure that enough supplies and volunteers are available to make it a safe and successful program for all involved. Don’t be disappointed – sign up early! Remember: Late registrants and drop-offs are NOT allowed.

Summer Intergenrational Sunday School July 11-August 8

Travel to Egypt and experience Joseph’s journey from a prison to the palace. Come one or all the Sundays; each week is a stand-alone lesson in itself. Adults and children will learn side by side as families build pyramids, jostle through the marketplace, make mud bricks and join Joseph on the adventure of his life. Sunday mornings at 9:30am in the Family Life Center.
