Pastor Dave

Rev. David W. Schulte,
Senior Pastor

Rev. David Schulte, "Pastor Dave", became Senior Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes on August 1, 2001.

Pastor Dave was born in McGregor, Texas near Waco, but spent most of his "growing up" years on the east side of San Antonio. He is the son of a Lutheran pastor - The Rev. Henry Schulte of Boerne, Texas.

He is a 1979 graduate of Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio in 1983 with a Master of Divinity degree. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1994.

Pastor Schulte served Peace Lutheran in Rosenberg, Texas from 1983-87. He started Peace Lutheran in New Braunfels, Texas and stayed from 1987-97. He served as Director of Church Relations for Texas Lutheran University from 1997 until accepting the call to Zion.

Pastor Schulte loves to spend time with his daughter and to play golf when he can. He is passionate about God's wondrous grace, and is excited to be serving God as a pastor with Zion Lutheran.

Rev. Jennifer Gold,
Associate Pastor

Rev. Jennifer Gold began serving Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes as Associate Pastor on August 1, 2002 and was installed as pastor at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes on Sunday, August 11, 2002. Pastor Gold graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 1996 with a B. A. Degree in Psychology and from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio in 2002 with a Master of Divinity. She was ordained on July 13, 2002 at her home church in Fort Worth Texas.

Pastor Gold's formal ministry began in 1996 when she served as Youth Minister for both Grace Lutheran and St. Christopher's Episcopal Churches in Bandera, Texas. While attending Trinity Lutheran Seminary, she spent a year working with the Dean of Worship as the Sacristan Coordinator, organizing teams to prepare and lead all worship services at the seminary. She also led liturgical practicums for first-year seminary students. She completed her chaplaincy program at Ohio State University Hospital. In 2001, Pastor Gold completed her internship at Messiah Lutheran Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Pastor Gold grew up in Aledo, Texas, a small town outside of Fort Worth, but her Texan roots stretch back to Fredericksburg, her father's hometown. She is married to fellow TLU alum Christopher Gold, and they have two sons. Her pastimes include singing, reading, cooking, crafts, water-skiing, and enjoying her dog and cat.
